It was a big relief to hear we are moving back to Alert Level 2 at the beginning of next week. We look forward to welcoming all our students and staff back onsite at that time!
Thank you once more to you all for the support and resilience you have again shown through Alert Level 3. Strong vigilance, good hygiene practices, coupled with the hard work our health authorities are doing to identify and support any confirmed cases and their close contacts remain important for all of us.
Just a reminder that while everyone is onsite at Alert Level 2 next week, we must adhere to key health measures including:
Good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette
Staying away if sick
Keeping the appropriate physical distance from others (in class this means no touching each other and keeping out of breathing distance)
Cleaning and disinfecting our high touch surfaces daily
Displaying QR code posters at our entrances and encouraging all of our community to download the NZ COVID Tracer App and use it if they come onsite
Keeping a visitor register for anyone who cannot use the app and for other visitors who come onsite for a period of time.
Here are the key points for you to be aware of, when your child returns to school:
Children need to bring their own water bottle. Water fountains will be closed.
The only entry to the school will be via the hall entrance and this will be unlocked at 8.15am daily. Whaea Meli and another staff member will be there to greet your children and ensure hands are sanitised before they enter the school grounds. Breakfast club will begin on Wednesday 2nd September. The gate will be locked at 9.30am daily, any latecomers will need to contact the office 09 8338479 or 027 5694305 and a staff member will greet you and open the gates. All gates will reopen at 2.50pm to allow students to exit school at the end of the day. All students will leave school at 3pm each day.
Teachers will put hand sanitiser on the hands of every student, every day at the start of day, start of morning tea, end of morning tea, start of lunch and end of lunch.
Teachers will, before and after school, clean all hard surfaces in your child’s class.
Parents will not be able to enter the school grounds unless you have contacted the school office. Everyone needs to be signed in and a contact tracing register has been established for all visitors. Please download the NZ COVID Tracer app
School assemblies are cancelled during level 2.
We are looking forward to seeing your children on MONDAY 31st AUGUST.
If your child has a school chrome book or IPad at home, can you please make sure they bring this back to school when they return as they are required for classroom learning. If you are unable to return the devices on Monday please call the school and we will arrange pickup 09 8338479.
We know all these things will help to keep our community as safe as possible. Because of these measures, your child does not need to wear a face covering while at school. We will of course support them should they choose to do so. Our previous experience at Alert level 2 and the fact that our school very quickly found a new way of operating, fills us with confidence that we will do this again.
